Equine Facilitated learning

Why equine facilitated learning

Working with horses is a very powerful experience.  They have a profoundly calming presence, which is hugely beneficial for those with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, anxiety disorders, stress and depression. The benefits include:

Increased self awareness

Confidence and self belief

Creating healthy relationships

Understanding boundaries

Self empowerment

Learning new skills

Reducing stress and increasing calmness

Increased resilience

Understanding emotions

EFL is not therapy, but it is therapeutic.  The practitioner works with the client alongside the horse, who is the real teacher. Horses cannot speak, therefore cannot pass judgement, which allows clients to explore often difficult emotions or situations in a safe non judgemental environment.  Horses live together in herds and communicate with subtle body language, which can be very useful when thinking about relationships between people.
